Inevitably there were similarities that ran throughout all the installations, however, some concentrated on the object/space itself while others combined the design with the narrative of the film. Group 4's film on colour separation was the key concept for their installation. They translated this with multiple screen overlays and prismatic light refractions - very difficult to define the spatial limit because of its sense of infinity and continuation. To this end, it achieved a fully immersive sensation, possibly more than any other.
The existing room layout was used (or unconsidered) in all except for Group 2. The floor area and height were challenged and played with. The material selection enhanced sound with the wind created by movement inside. The homogenous vacuum absorbed you in but its translucency comforted and softened the ambience to make it a very pleasurable experience. The design can be a very real proposal for a small cinema space.
Group 1's succes came with the experimental approach to the outcome - there was no preconceived idea or form. This opened much greater discussion on the effect of light and reflective qualities resulting in a rich and variable installation where personally, you could appreciate the ambience of the surrounding surfaces rather than the object itself.
The result of Group 3's student vote indicated the installation as the one with the most tangible, visually striking object. The layers of string enhanced the use of the film. Caution is advised with the metaphorical referencing of each of the installation components as part of the film's character. This is not apparent when viewed 'cold' and so this notion is post-rationalised and verging on the trite.

Projects this year will follow the meta-theme of habitation; it can imply living in a domestic setting but more abstractly can represent the occupation of a given environment regardless of the activity occurring within. Occupation is not restricted to living beings but can extend to inanimate objects with issues of containment and how artefacts influence the surrounding space.
